This Little Light of Mine

I woke up this morning with this song in my head and I have been singing it all morning. I have not thought of this song for years! May it get stuck in your head and create as much joy for you as it has for me:)

This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

In this little heart of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
In this little heart of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
In this little heart of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

I'm not gonna make it shine
Just gonna let it shine
I'm not gonna make it shine
Just gonna let it shine
I'm not gonna make it shine
Just gonna let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

This little light of mine
I’m gonna let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!

One part I love about this song it the verse that says
I'm not gonna make it shine Just gonna let it shine". I find that when I am making things happen it feels hard however when I simply allow my self to be the light that I AM, it is easy.

For me I got to learn the difference between being in the space of forcing (making) things happen and taking action, to create my desired result. When I was forcing or making things happen it created an energy of control, however when I take committed action I am simply trusting things to come into my space to create my desired result and then I take action on them. Taking committed action for me creates an empowering and easy road.
So LET IT SHINE my friends, LET IT SHINE!

Love and Light!

"New Beginnings"

As I pondered on the beautiful things that I experience in the World, “New Beginnings” rang in my heart. The very energy of these two words created excitement and joy in my soul. In my life, I’m very conscious of the words I use because of the energy and feelings that I experience from them, and “New Beginnings” brings excited energy and a joyful feeling for me especially as Winter is moving into Spring, which is my favorite season.

There are many events and moments we celebrate because they are seen as “New Beginnings”. We celebrate the new beginning of a child’s life here on this earth. We celebrate a new year of life on the day of our birth. We celebrate the new beginnings of our life as we step out of one school into the next. We celebrate the beginnings of a new career. We celebrate the new beginning of two souls in a committed relationship. We celebrate the beginnings of each new year. All of these can feel energizing and joyful.

On the other hand, there seem to be many things that we all mourn because they are ending. Since many people are resistant to change, this can create very real and very negative and heavy feelings. Think back to a time that you’ve experienced these feelings and what event is attached to them. What if you could shift that experience by simply taking a look at it from a different perspective? If something in your life is ending, is it possible for you to shift your perspective to looking at the “new beginning” of that moment in your life? Could that shift also create a different feeling for you? It might take a little practice, but my experience is – absolutely!

This shift in perspective can be done in all aspects of your life from careers to relationships and even a loved one moving on. Here is a small example: At the end of Summer last year I was thinking about the things I get to handle in my yard to prepare it for the fall weather. For a split moment I felt a twinge of sadness and feeling that I was not quite ready for the summer to end. In that moment I had the choice to focus on summer ending, which felt sad and heavy to me, or the new beginning of fall, which for me, felt exciting. I began to remember the things I love about fall instead of the things I would miss about summer. This felt completely different because I was choosing to focus my thoughts and energy on positive things instead of negative.

Another example would be if I were to take a look at all of the relationship in my life that have changed. I could focus on the heaviness of them ending, which could feel like a loss or negative, or I can focus on this being an opportunity for a new beginning of a beautiful journey of lessons, growth, healing, forgiveness, joy and gratitude.

Every moment in life is a new beginning and every breath I take is a new beginning – not the ending of the last one. Moment to moment, I am at choice as to whether I focus on the ending or the new beginning.

I know that each of us has a huge contribution to make in this world. Have you ever wondered what you could do? What do you suppose could change in your life and the world if each of us were to focus on the excitement and joy of ALL the new beginning in our lives and really radiate the positive energy from that one simple shift in perspective? The possibilities are endless!

To new beginnings…Love and Light to you!
